  • Code Update

From Louis Ohland@21:1/5 to Louis Ohland on Fri May 24 06:56:18 2024
Maybe there was a "Code Update" utility that IBM used to develop the
scsimode utility ? "Code Update" is scattered throughout the SCSImode documentation...

Note:  The Adaptec 1542B card requires special EPROMS to function
properly with IBM drives.  The correct microcode for the EPROMS can be obtained from the Adaptec BBS ((408)945-7727) or from your local Adaptec representative.

Older versions can be found on archive.org, e.g. with the data sheets
for the old IBM SCSI hard drives:

And last but not least, the scsimode utility (scsimd10.exe) for
changing the storage capacity of a SCSI hard drive or for
(de)activating the drive's write cache and many other options:

scsimode works directly with Spock and Cheetah. All other SCSI host
adapters require an ASPI driver. IBM hard drives are recognized, but
hard drives from other manufacturers are also supported.

I use this utility to prepare LVD SCSI disks for use in a 9595.
