Uses a DB37.
Both use split power / signal, the Model 1 uses the existing 5150, 5155,
or 5160 floppy controller and the Model 2 has another adapter that goes
into the 5170.
o 4865 Model 1
The 4865 model 1 has a permanently attached 36"
signal/power cable that attaches directly to the existing 5.25"
diskette drive adapter on the 5150, 5155, or 5160 system unit. A
customer installable power split cable provided with the 4865
makes system power available to the 4865. For the IBM Portable
Personal Computer, a slot is required to install the external
power supply connector. One 4865 can be attached to a system
unit.
o 4865 Model 2
The 4865 model 2 has a special external diskette drive
adapter card that is installed in expansion slot 6 or 7 of the
5170 system unit. This card connects to an existing combination
fixed disk/diskette drive adapter. Connection is via a
permanently attached 36" single/power cable on the 4865. A power
split cable provided with the 4865 provides system power to the
external diskette drive adapter card. One 4865 can be attached to
a system unit.

It can´ t be used in any of my PS/2 so I sold mine to USA few days ago. Didn´t knew which model 1 or 2 it was. It has only 37 pin cable with no power. The 4865 was also used with models of the Wheelwriter typewriter - and with a power source, it probably could be used with the Diskette Adapter/A as well.Louis Ohland wrote:
