• ChipChat Disk1 and Disk2!!!!!! - ORIGINALS

From [email protected]@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jun 3 12:46:41 2023
    Hey guys,

I found someone on Facebook who has the original disks for the Chipchat. He used DD on his Mac and sent them to me. I sent them to David over Facebook and he's sending them to the pertinent folks.

I put them on my website here:

    The original disk dumps:
    https://hnet.online/chipchat1.img
    https://hnet.online/chipchat2.img

    I re-saved them as .ima with WinImage: https://hnet.online/ChipChat%20Disk%201.IMA https://hnet.online/ChipChat%20Disk%202.IMA

The page on Ardent Tool, https://www.ardent-tool.com/sound/ChipChat.html only has a zip of disk 1. While I was able to replicate Disk2 from other sources... I'm glad to have the originals and want to get them out to anyone who might want them.

    Fantastic work, Lionel!

I have compared the contents of the disk 1 image with the files from the cc1.zip archive and they are the same except for the SUPPORT.TXT file
which appear to be corrupted in the "new" disk image. The first half of
the file is readable but the remaining portion is garbled. Looks like
the contents of the two SUPPORT.TXT files were almost the same
originally, with only the "Use the Online manual CCSOUND.pdf" string
appended at the beginning - as confirmed by comparing the size of the
two files. I have reconstructed the file by manipulating the image
directly (to maintain the original file order and modification
date/time). Both the original and fixed version of the disk 1 image are available:

    https://ardent-tool.com/sound/ChipChat.html

(The "new" image of disk 1 also contains PC DOS system files, which may
have not been there originally, but I have not touched these since we
    don't know for sure...)

Please let me know if your FB contact wants to be credited on the page.

Added the manual as well (extracted from disk 1): https://ardent-tool.com/sound/ccsound.pdf
