From Louis Ohland@21:1/5 to All on Sun Jan 29 10:59:17 2023
I am kontuzed. Need to finish the 8556 and 9556 SCSI chipsets.

OKI 15F7917 [SCSI memory controller ?]
    33F6910 ???

AIC-6250EL "High-Performance SCSI Protocol Chip" is there a shorter
name? IIRC, it was a glue logic?

Tom, it's all linked, can you fill in the gaps?

My intent is to show the on-board SCSI variants, so we can characterize
    them...

Gonna update the pages. The 8556/57 parts list lacks all kind of info currently.

33F6910 - judging by the traces etc. it might be the MCA interface chip.
But I'll have to verify this...

AIC-6250 is more than just a glue logic, it controls the SCSI bus. See
the datasheet for a block diagram and other info: https://www.ardent-tool.com/datasheets/Adaptec_AIC-6250.pdf

Architecture-wise, it's for a longer talk, and in some cases, painful probulation.

Tom, I cut n pasted the SCSI Protocol title, I wandted to know if there
was a >shorter< name. If not, how does SCSI Protocol chip equate to the
other SCSI chips of other SCSI chipsets?

Is "SCSI Bus Controller" short enough?

It handles SCSI bus arbitration, bus cycle, device selection, and more.
But it doesn't have intelligence. 52G9307/82G2645 probably implements
this functionality on the FW adapters. But like I said, I'll have to
    take a closer look...
