MAJ Tom, would a Type 1 Upgrade DX2-66 [FLASH] be able to use a Type 4 convenience partition on a Model 90?
Possibly, but at the very least you would have to install a modified
$BOOT.IML (it contains a list of compatible model/submodel values among
other things).
The Type 1 Upgrade DX2-66 would have the enhanced complex BIOS, enabling
it to use the Corvette.
I wonder if the Upgrade DX2-66 BIOS is a fork off of the "N"?
No, because the T1 Upg 66 platform is older than the T4 "N". But it may
be the other way around - speaking strictly about the (C)BIOS portion.
The T4 POST code is a direct evolution of the T3 POST (not surprising
since they use the same complex architecture, aside from the cache
subsystem and the obvious integration differences).
I'll need a dump of the flash image to find where exactly the Upg 66
fits in the FW family tree.
