• What IBM PS/2 did you own and use back then?

From Ant@21:1/5 to All on Sat Apr 2 20:09:49 2022
I had my own model 30 286 10 Mhz PC. It came with IBM-DOS v4 (it
sucked), Windows v3.0, 1 MB of RAM, IBM PS/2 IBM 8512(?) 12" VGA
monitor, 30 MB HDD, IBM PS/2 2-buttons mouse, and an IBM ProPrinter X24e
(loud dot matrix through a parallel cable). I got Windows 3.1 upgrade
(thanks Egghead) and Stacker software to make more free disk space,
etc.). Added a Creative Labs Sound Blaster (8-bit), an internal Zoom
2400 modem, and more memory up to 4 MB.

What about the rest of you? Thank you for reading and hopefully
    answering. :)

2day feels like Th.'s cold weather. And then, another heat wave in a few days. Finally hibernated ~8.5h with 3? quick wake ups from <10:30 PM PDT-<7 AM PDT. Still tired! 2 fools got pranked by this almost fooled ant.

Oh, my... so many machines, and my memory is less than perfect -- let's see if I can remember the highlights. I'm only listing the machines I owned, not shared machines or work-related machines.

    2 8530-021 (original Model 30s)
    1 8530-E31 (Model 30 286)
    1 8543 (L40SX)
    1 8550-031
    1 8556-055
    2 8560-071 (Model 60 ESDI)
    2 8570-A21
    2 8580-A31
    2 9590-DLG

All of them are gone now, most went away in my first purge around 1999, the last 9590 went in 2021. I've still got a fair number of Thinkpads and a couple of RS/6000s, but the bulk of the old computer collection is no more.

Wow. my colony and I gave my model 30 286 10 Mhz PC to my uncle's family
years later before getting a custom built 486 DX2/66 PC in December
    1993.

I never owned a PS/2 desk top with a serial number. The only one I had
with a real case was a lab model 57 SLC that I got in a swap for some
disk drives and it was never serialized. The other 5 were in wooden
    cases. I had an old M/30, a 30./286, a M/80, a 55SX and my red oak Mod
70 with the 5" bay. I did have a hand me down 8573 luggable I got when
the sales folks got Thinkpads. I also had a wooden PC/AT.

I could get parts but cases were closely controlled items. ;-)

My first working PS/2 in '95 [IIRC] was an 8595-0KF, SOD-K, XGA. Used it
as my portable system at times. Sucked walking up a flight of stairs
    with it.

The first PS/2 I owned I never used in earnest. But it was the start of my MADness.
I bought it at a computerfair back in '98 or '99 for 75 guilder (yep, Dutch), now around 55 US$.

    It was big and heavy:

    IBM PS/2 Model 95 XP 486 8595-V01 55-1L6W7

    POS.EXE reported this:

What it didn't report were some added "paperweights" (to make it stand stable ;) ):
    IBM 0661 400MB
    IBM 0661 400MB
    IBM DPES-309540 535MB
    IBM WDS-3200 200MB
    IBM Toshiba XM-4101 BME
    IBM ITBU 80/120

    Still have it....
