    5.0.1 mostly has installer fixes, better at figuring out your hardware.
    I doubt that there is ever going to be a version that installs on 500MB,
    it was hard enough convincing them to lower it to the current level. As
    for a CDR version, it's not that hard to remove various stuff that you
    don't need, but does mean creating a new ISO and being familiar with the
    DVD's organization.
    As for the newer packages, my guess is that the kernel is only licensed
    for ArcaOS. For ACPI, you should be able to reinstall the older WPI or
    restore from backup

    Hi:

    I was on the Arca WWW site the other day, and I
    noticed that they had several fixes, as well as the
    updated ArcaOS. So, I downloaded all the WPI files,
    and tried installing the fixes. As expected, the
    updated kernel wouldn't go on my eCS system, but the
    other fixes did.

    This is where I have an issue with these integrated
    package installers. How do I know what was installed,
    changed, or deleted? As luck had it, the boot process
    went repeatedly foobar in the middle of 'CHKDSK'. I
    guessed that the ACPI package was responsible, as after
    scraping around for changed files, and restoring what I
    thought was changed and deleted, I finally was able to
    boot again. Luckily?, it had installed a readme which
    stated the package was only suitable for ArcaOS, and
    what files were installed. However, it also deleted
    the entire ECS\ACPI directory. At the very least, the
    WWW site and WPI installer should warn about the
    install.

    It also must be used with an SMP version of the kernel already installed. It will not work with a non-SMP version.
