• No Longer A Joke. Micro$oft Is Malware

The joke was, for a LONG time, that Micro$hit Winblows was
a malware infestation at ones workstation.

Well, it's no longer a joke:

What took these assholes so long to admit it?

I have a dual-boot (Debian Sid + Win 11) on a mini PC that shipped with
Win 11, a cheap way to get Windows.

I boot into Windows 11 every so often to do a git pull from a Git Bash
command line, fire up Qtcreator to test the build, then run a DOS batch
script to build the release, pack up the code in a 7zip file, and use
NSIS to build a setup.exe. Then I'm done, boot back to Debian, and
mount the NTFS partition to copy the release files.

When I've had to stay in Win a bit longer (to fix bugs), I run VLC
and play SomaFM's Groove Salad stream for comfort.

Always amused by the ads at login. Haven't seen much of the fun
    that the article mentions.

You just know when a relationship is about to end. My girlfriend called me
at work and asked me how you change a lightbulb in the bathroom. "It's very simple," I said. "You start by filling up the bathtub with water..."

The article is only the beginning, unfortunately.

When attempting to export a document as PDF, Office 365
now offers you 2 free Adobe Acrobat formatted PDFs before
agreeing to a pay-per-print contract. If one declines
then a severely limited M$ export option is given.

M$ and Adobe are obviously united in milking their captive
    user base.

Not only Micro$lop but most Micro$lop software is joining
    the extortion party.

A lot of M$ software, paid by subscription, includes targeted
"suggestions" (i.e. ads) based on recorded user behavior.

I know this because the software at my place of employment
displays this exact behavior -- and no one, except me, gives
    a flying fuck.

Unfortunately, the owner/pres is a total digital idiot
and I could not ever convince him to switch to GNU/Linux/FOSS.
(Although I could easily transform that whole fucking place.)

On one of my home machines I have Winblows 11 but it has
been completely gutted to remove everything except the functional
essentials. It requires several hours to do the gutting
but it is certainly worth it.
