New car sales would slow as prices go up. Those customers would enter

Parts is going to be a big one.
As it stands now, pre tariff, even parts for new cars under warranty are in short
supply. People are waiting extended times for replacement parts for domestic cars.

A friend of mine has been waiting almost a month for a replacement passenger window
for her car. Another friend of mine is waiting on a differential for a 2024 Ford.
There is no ETA on that one.

Spot-on correct. Used cars require more repair services and more replacement parts than new cars. As a lot of replacement parts are imported, the cost of those is going to rise with tariffs. As the supply of mechanics' services is constrained in the short term, labor rates will rise as demand for car repairs rises. The prices of *everything* about cars — new car prices, used car prices,
parts, repair services — is going to go up, thanks to Trump's tariffs fuck-up.
In fact, the prices of *everything* are going to go up, because consumers will begin to switch demand from tariffed good to non-tariffed goods, and the prices of the latter will start to rise. This is called "general equilibrium" in economics.

    AI Overview

While the Linux kernel itself is apolitical software, the GNU/Linux
community and open-source movement have strong ties to political and social
ideals. These ideals include free software, free speech, privacy, and
inclusivity. Some argue that the free software movement is inherently
political due to its focus on these values.

a lie to claim that "George Stigler" knew anything about me.

Doesn't really matter too much, because the obvious answer to the
Economics question is that used cars will become more expensive too.

But if one is wondering why it was condescending, perhaps "George" is
one of the regular posters who knows you, but is just hiding behind a
    sockpuppet name.

Yeah, let's give the "benefit of the doubt" to whomever attacks your superior.

Nah, just calling the balls & strikes, by noting that there's more possibilities than only the narrative that you're trying to claim.

For example, your claimed that George didn't know anything about you,
but that hasn't been substantiated...and don't forget that logically,
absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Or perhaps they just did some research on your posting style first, and
did a preemptive strike because of how you react so poorly when you get
    corrected ..

You are lying again, -highhorse. I react just fine to being
corrected, as we see in my response to Gov Swill's first post to the
    thread, where he explained respectfully.

    <[email protected]>

One instance does not a habit make.

as we can see in effect in your reply below:

What we see below is my response to being called a "thoughtless
asshole" who is undeserving of respect, you friggen idiot.

Unlike you, -highhorse, I do deserve respect. Unlike you, I don't
    get-off on attacking people.

Respect always has to be earned, not demanded. And it is quickly lost.

So that's what you've got. Lies. Just like "George", you've managed
to lose to me, despite my initial mistake.

    You're a thoughtless asshole.

    In an asshole's opinion, anyway.

Your response will be deleted, unread.

TL;DR: your poor online reputation precedes you.

    In an asshole's opinion, anyway.

Rather ironic, considering the hundreds of times your idiocy and your
lies have been exposed and documented. Almost all of it attacking a
group of decent, honest, reasonable people (FOSS advocates).

More vacuous & untruthful claims. No wonder that you can't garner
respect, no matter how much you DEMAND it.

    "Poor online reputation" indeed!

Your response will be deleted, unread.

You're merely digging your hole ever deeper. Cry harder.

A young married couple had their first child. Their original pride
and joy slowly turned to concern however, for after a couple of years the
child had never uttered any form of speech. They hired the best speech therapists, doctors, psychiatrists, all to no avail. The child simply refused to speak. One morning when the child was five, while the husband was reading the paper, and the wife was feeding the dog, the little kid looks up from
his bowl and said, "My cereal's cold."
The couple is stunned. The man, in tears, confronts his son. "Son, after all these years, why have you waited so long to say something?".
Shrugs the kid, "Everything's been okay 'til now".

He walked swiftly, with a loose, lazy expertness of motion. He
walked down the long road, in the sun. Far ahead Stanton lay
sprawled on the coast of Massachusetts, a little town as a
setting for the gem of its existence--the great institute rising
on a hill beyond. The township of Stanton began with a dump. A
gray mound of refuse rose in the grass. It smoked faintly. Tin
cans glittered in the sun. The road led past the first houses to
a church. The church was a Gothic monument of shingles painted
pigeon blue. It had stout wooden buttresses supporting nothing.
It had stained-glass windows with heavy traceries of imitation
stone. It opened the way into long streets edged by tight,
exhibitionist lawns. Behind the lawns stood wooden piles tortured
out of all shape: twisted into gables, turrets, dormers; bulging
