• A New Machine Steadily Rolls Along

From Farley Flud@21:1/5 to All on Tue Jan 7 11:35:52 2025
Got my new sound card for my new GNU/Linux machine:

    https://us.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-audigy-rx

Amazon did it again. They offer free shipping at 7-10 days but
also offer expedited shipping, for a hefty fee, at 2-3 days.
However, when selecting free shipping the package usually comes
in 2-3 days anyway. It hasn't failed for me yet.

    But why this card?

Because reseach shows that it is one of the only PCIe sound cards
that Alsa can fully support. Therefore the choice is a no-brainer.
In addition it is also a damned fucking good sound card.

Preliminary research to determine hardware compatibility with
GNU/Linux is crititcal, yet many (most?) distro lackeys will fail
    to do the work.

Then these lackeys will bellyache, moan, and groan when their hardware
does not function properly. Like overgrown brats they will blame
    GNU/Linux for their self-inflicted problems.

Shut the fuck up, brats. YOU are the only problem.

These fucking lackey brats give GNU/Linux a bad name.

Gosh, I've been losing track of how many times of late where Feeb has
been thrown money around to solve his Linux problems.

If I've kept track well, this hardware build started back on 12/18/24, a
    mere 21 days ago.

But there was also a build attempt on 7/19/24 .. something about an old
i7 to be replaced with a Xeon but which wasn't socket compatible?

That seems to have been abandoned? Or morphed into an 8/9/24 redo?

In any event, seems like a lot of effort (if not also money) being
squandered by Feeb just to keep a machine or two running.

If wasting his time isn't his hobby, perhaps he'd just be better off
spending $599 just once for an M4 Mac mini...

...or to stroke his ego, a specs-bump at double that to have 24GB RAM,
1TB SSD storage & 10GbE Ethernet for him to make his USENET posts with.

I have no GNU/Linux problems. I understand every facet of GNU/Linux
operation so that I am able to build, boot, and configure a unique
    system totally from scratch.

What can you do other than to blindly install a standard, mainstream, do-it-all-for-you distro?

You are definitely not one to judge.

    Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

If I've kept track well, this hardware build started back on 12/18/24, a

Why would you, or anyone, desire to "keep track?"

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

You've got serious psychological issues. I suggest that you
    contact the nearest competent therapist.

    ...or to stroke his ego,

The fact that you've taken time to post this ridiculous message
only indicates that it is *you* who has "ego" problems.

But what the fuck is "ego?"

I was a board certified neuropsychiatrist of the Freudian school
at the age of 16 and I never encountered an adequate laymen
    description of the term "ego."

Since then I've learned to dismiss the use of "ego" as being
    the rant of idiots.

No problems...except for 3 public attempts in ~6 months which illustrate otherwise. Its not even clear if any of them were successful or not.

What can you do other than to blindly install a standard, mainstream, do-it-all-for-you distro?

Not waste weeks of my time on it. Do you also insist on driving a car
with a manual clutch, manual choke, & manual spark advance too?

You are definitely not one to judge.

    Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

Judge? Nah, I've simply admitted that your trolls were inadequate for motivating this 3rd party to keep track of just how much effort you've

Untrue, for you were compelled to snip to alter the above statement.

But what the fuck is "ego?"

ELI5: it is what was bruised by the statement portion you snipped.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! What a dunce!

If I logged all the time spent on hardware assembly and associated tasks
it would only total a few hours.

Also, my machines cannot be compared to driving an antique automobile.
My work is comparable to the design and building of a 6th generation experimental jet fighter.

Give your misplaced critiques a rest and get back to your generic,
    security crippled, moribund distros.

Plus all of the hours which you don't log...
Plus all the yammering you do on COLA...

And you're not keeping track .. why?

Gosh, it couldn't be that deep down, you know that you're squandering
too much of your time that could be spent on more fruitful endeavors.

Also, my machines cannot be compared to driving an antique automobile.
My work is comparable to the design and building of a 6th generation experimental jet fighter.

An appropriate analogy, because experimentals ... crash & burn.

Gosh, that's another cartload of a face-saving attempt to _try_ to
protect Feeb's very fragile little ego!

    much less Apple's shit?

Partly because he's been trying to claim that he spends less money this way.

But more so, if he really is so good at this custom build stuff that he
claims to be doing, assembling Linux OS on an M4 mini would be trivial
child's play for him. As such, he could have his cake & eat it too.

Nope. You are the loser. When such a loser encounters an
