The people responsible for the decisions don't mind because they often
live in gated community with high security or neighbourhoods where
criminal activity is minimal. If they had to experience what their
constituents experience as a result of their increasingly idiotic
decisions, they might go against the herd and make a thoughtful decision
from time to time.
