Note to AMD users who can and want to enable S3 for use with Linux...

... don't do it. S3 is superior in every way and actually suspends the
computer to using little to no power. However, enabling it on CPUs older
than the 7000 series (which allow for it using the
UniversalAMDFormBrowser unlike the 7000 series which completely disables
it), results in overheating or high battery consumption in Windows and
random instability in Linux. One example: nvidia-powerd.service no
longer starting or stopping as expected. From now on, if you want a
machine that actually suspends the way machines used to, get a Mac. Even System76's machines are no longer able to provide S3 suspend as it
causes hanging.
