  • connection to eternal-september server was refused

    Hi. I'm using windows at the moment. I was just in my ubuntu partition
    using thunderbird trying to post to this newsgroup and got message:
    CONNECTION TO SERVER ETERNAL-SEPTEMBER WAS REFUSED.

    I am extremely rusty in linux and ubuntu.
    Anyone know what to check to fix the connection refused problem?

    I was using reader443.eternal-september.org port 443 (SSL),
    and lost access for 2-3 days this week. Certificate errors.
    Changed to news.eternal-september.org port 563 SSL and it
    started working again.
    If that fails, try news.eternal-september.org port 119 no
    encryption.
    Assuming you are not banned, that will probably solve the
    problem.

    Ray Banana moved to a new server this week which might
    account for problems with access.
