So I’ve been toying idly with the thought of putting together a controller setup roughly like the Yamaha console organs I used to play as a lad: a
couple of 5-octave keyboards and a pedalboard. All of these will just be
used as MIDI controllers, with all sounds coming from the range of synth
and other software available on Linux.
I looked at the prices of things online, and keyboards can be obtained
that are not too expensive. But pedalboards, even just 13-note ones, seem
to be very pricey. Why? Is it because they’re less common? Or are they
more expensive to make?
