I don't have unlimited data (and my provider is even owned by T-Mobile)
    so this interested me.

Well, I don't research plans like Steve does, but what I know is when
T-Mobile bought Sprint, they ended up having incompatible plans, so what
they did, for free, was give everyone who was postpaid in the USA who had
    *any* data, unlimited data.

In doing so, they didn't change the price of the postpaid plans.

As I understand it, if you were paying $25 per month for Sprint Plan A, and someone else was paying $50 a month for Sprint Plan B, they simply gave
both of them unlimited data, if their plans had any data on them at all.

Likewise if you were on Plan C from T-Mobile at $75 per month, versus Plan
D at T-Mobile for $100 per month. They didn't change the price but they
gave everyone on a post-paid plan that had any data, unlimited data.

    It seems from this page
https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans that if you have two or more
lines you do get unlliited data, but the $50/month plan gives unlilmited
talk and text but "only" 50GB of data a month. 50 is a lot. I don't remember off-hand how much I get but I think it's less. (The url starts
off with the rates for 3 lines.)

Well, first off, I agree that 50GB per month per line is a lot, so it's "essentially" unlimited, but I think the careful wording in the contract,
as far as I can recall, is you get 50GB of "FAST" data, and after that,
    they can slow it down.

There are other caveats, such as the data caps sometimes being "per tower",
but at 50GB/month/line, I wouldn't worry too much about the fine print.

Does anyone on this newsgroup use anywhere near 50GB per month per line?

That's the way mine works. After I reach my limit I still have unlimited
    slow (read almost unusable) service.

I have 2 lines at 5GB/mo each with rollover. I seldom go over 2 GB and
the wife even less. Most of what I use is her fault cause I'm usually
sitting somewhere surfing while waiting on her shopping... :-/

    A classic couple.
