Phone Link dials but sound is distorted in different ways in each direc

Does this ring a bell. I've installed Phone Link on my PC and my Xiaomi
Redmi Note 8 Pro, and I can now call phones from my PC via my cell
phone. When I call my landline it rings normally but when my machine
plays its out going message, it sound on the PC like Micky Mouse
imitating Micky Mouse. Micky Mouse squared.
I left a message and it sounds like Darth Vader.
Both are unintelligible. I haven't called anyone else yet because I
don't want to scare anyone.
