How come it's so easy to save userids and passwords in Firefox on a PC,
but so complicated or impossible to do on my Android phone.

Using Firefox, the phone never asks if I want to save my login info.

First of all synchronise everything across all devices you use by using
the Mozilla cloud. Everything is encrypted.

    Then:
Hamburger menu in FF - Settings - Passwords - First setting (Save
    passwords).

Activate the second item as well (automatic fill)

It worked well just now for Fedex, so I'm not concerned about what
follows, but for the record, I don't find these things in my FF on my
phone. I don't even see a hamburger. I see three dots and it offers a settings page with a password page, but only to look at the last of
passwords already saved. Yet it worked well for Fedex. Good enough.
