• what is the trick to taking macro photos

From Jan K.@21:1/5 to All on Mon Feb 24 06:38:16 2025
Using a samsung camera app I can take macros but more than most are blurry. What's the trick to getting the macro not to be blurry?
They look clear when taking them but on the computer, I see they're not.
Is there a trick to gauge the distance the macro will be clear?

Or maybe a camera app that beeps or flashes or whatever when it's clear?

My Samsung phone seems to have automatic focus, which seems to adjust
to macro quite easily. What I find more difficult is to hold the phone
still while taking the picture -- perhaps the fuzziness is due to
    camera shake.

I also have problems holding the phone still while taking the picture, especially at the moment I tap the 'shutter' button. I mostly solve this problem by setting a two-second timer. That gives me enough time to
settle the phone after tapping the button and before the picture is
taken. That may also help the OP (Jan K.). BUT, for my phone (also a
Samsung), the timer is ignored when the camera is set to macro! :-(

My Nikon, too, has auto-focus in macro mode. But it's often not truly
focused. I usually get the auto-focus to set up, do the "half-shutter" lock-in, then move the camera in and out to select the sharpest details
    seen in the display.
    Then I go for "full-shutter".

    Yeah. Miky-maus, I know...
