  • Google lost its battle against Epic contesting Google Play Store charge

    From Wally J@21:1/5 to All on Wed Dec 13 02:06:40 2023
    Google lost its battle against Epic regarding Google Play Store charges.
    <https://www.engadget.com/jury-sides-with-epic-games-in-its-antitrust-lawsuit-against-google-032341810.html>
    "the jury has unanimously agreed that Google held an illegal monopoly
    on app distribution and in-app billing services for Android devices.
    Further, it found the company's distribution agreements with other
    video gaming companies, as well as its deals with device manufacturers
    to pre-install its apps on Android devices, to be anticompetitive."

    Dunno how/if that might affect us, as mere users of the Google Play Store repository.

    I didn't hear about this until today, when the news show I was listening
    to portrayed it as new news. Although it sounded like game apps were
    suing, I still would have thought there would be more interest here.

    I too dont' known how/if it might affect us, but that's because I don't
    know much. What are those 3 buttons on the side for?

    Someone emailed me. It seems they are the contrast, the vertical hold,
    and the horizontal hold.

    So I only need the first one.
