One Cent Per Gigabyte

From Lawrence D'Oliveiro@21:1/5 to All on Sun Aug 10 08:02:40 2025

How cheap is persistent storage space these days? How about 1¢/GB for
a 24TB disk drive <https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/hdds/seagates-monstrous-barracuda-24tb-hard-drive-on-sale-for-only-one-cent-per-gigabyte-drops-back-to-prime-day-pricing-at-usd250>?

That is a special discounted price, but even the regular price is only
20% more, so still less than 1¼¢/GB.

And it’s a CMR disk, not SMR.
