My friend is trying, and has got Pandora to receive, but can't get it to
send - we've tried quite a lot of combinations of settings, but can't
seem to find the right one!

(Her Eudora both sends and receives fine, and she's got Pandora to
receive: just not send. Its log window says either invalid command, unrecognised authentication type, or invalid login credentials - but
she's using the same username and password as in the working Eudora-send
and the working Pandora-receive.)

ask pandora. they have a fast response for problems like these. Mention
exactly what is in the log.

Thanks. I did in fact email Brana, and he replied, the same day, on a
Sunday! His suggestion didn't make it work, but I have put my friend in
direct contact with him.

Have you checked the properties for the personality in Pandora?

Under "Sending Mail" there is an Authentication drop down with three choices -- next to the TLS/SSL options. This is a DIFFERENT Authentication
from that shown under "Checking Mail".

And I'd like to just mention that some servers claimed to accept CRAM-MD5 but then rejected it -- I had to have Eudora's INI files manually edited to ban that method as it would automatically go to the most complex,
and not try simpler ones. Pandora seems to have just three methods listed currently.

She had it set to "If Available" - which is what she had it set to in
Eudora, which is sending fine.

Pandora has Basic, MD5, and OAuth2. I'm pretty sure we tried all

name" and "E-Mail Address" are identical)

Unfortunately, Pandora doesn't have the equivalent of Eudora's esoteric logging, so one can not capture full traffic... And I'm not going to
suggest one install/configure WireShark just to capture all bytes involving SMTP mail...

with the server being

Yes, I noticed that. She's using the TalkTalk SMTP server in Eudora,
though, and that's working. I think it's something to do with, she was originally with lineone, and stayed with it (i. e. using the email
servers for free - for several years!) while moving to another ISP,
before switching to TalkTalk - rather than being with TalkTalk at the
point where they took over lineone. However, I've passed your post on to
her (she doesn't do newsgroups).
