Sendmail by default uses MXes first when relaying to the smart host.
Special trick (smart host name in square brackets) is required to turn
off MX lookups.
Ok, so that means if there is an MX record for the hostname of the
smarthost, sendmail will send the mails to the machine named in the MX
record instead of the smarthost?
I've never had such a situation, so it was regardless is I used square
brackets or not, the behaviour at the end was the same.
