Dear friends, this newsgroup is getting older and very few people write
here, nowadays. What is your opinion about creating a Google Group for
    xHarbour and dismiss this newsgroup?

You cannot delete it. This is a USENET newsgroup, hosted by Google Groups but also other news servers. The SPAM is also flooding our sister VO newsgroup.

I am busy reporting it. When reported, it stops being returned on internet searches, and the piles of sh!t that dump their refuse like this fail to thrive. Anyone can help.

You are accessing via Google Groups. Very likely the tool (or interface) that is being used by the spammers to flood the newsgroups.

The spam started out elsewhere, the same crap was on sci.physics.relativity at the end of September.

What they (Enrico / Ingo) are telling you, is if you get an email client or dedicated newsreader, it gets its content via a usenet service that filters out this drivel.

I like you use Google Groups, and I report this stuff, so that they do not profit. No search engine hits are returned on it, if it has been reported. I don't mind the noise, I enjoy punishing rapists.

Not reliably. Google Groups seems to keep a list of "1000" or so most recent reports you have made, and automagically suppresses those with the hidden-due-to-reported banner. But with the recent floods in three newsgroups I monitor, reported threads in
a couple of others have suddenly been revealed. As if they had never been reported.

I dislike installing dedicated email clients or newsreaders, but that is the only way to make sure such dross stays gone. USENET retains such sh!t forever. Paid for by tax dollars, ultimately.

Get a formal newsreader or email client (eg. Thunderbird). They will get USENET feeds from dedicated servers, and the spam will not be visible. Google Groups are the bastards that let this spam be added, and consequently, they do not auto-hide even
reported crap, and only do so for a limited number of items you have reported yourself.
