Hi All, Hoping one of you can assist.
I have my original VO installation CD (Ver. 2.7a) with the serial number.
The disk no longer reads on my optical drive.
I had to reset my PC so I copied the VO installation folder with sub folders. And all my repositories. I backed up all my AEFs as well.
Now I am trying to install VO. Disk will not read
I copy the original installation folder across and all my repository folders. The first run it indicates the repositorty is corrupted and exits.
I try to create a new repository: it only creates the file <repositpryname>.VoPrj and sits there.
If I exit and try to add that repository it indicates no Adam table (obviously because it has not created all the files for the new repository.
Any suggestions as how to proceed?
Anyone have a downloadable iso that I can mount and install from there?
Any assistance will be most appreciated.
Richard
I think I just copied the full installed VO directory tree from an old
PC to the new one and then it ran like it ran on the old one.
I'n not sure if it realy worked that way but you can give it a try

That is basically what I explained I did. I am now trying to find a fresh install to create a blank repository where I can restore all my AEFs to.
The copy did not work. I do not know if I changed where the project files were stored and now it is looking in the default place?
Thanks for trying.

Hi Richard,
if you copy your old installation to the exactly the same location as
the old one it should work.
This is true for all VO versions starting with 2.7 because it does not
uses the registry anymore.
Giving you an installation is a harder part (even if I have a lot of installations on archive), because you need the correct service pack
and also to restore all configuration files and tools.

Wolfgang,
VO 2.7 uses an ActiveX component for the source code editor.
IIRC you will have to register that component (cmax40.dll )

I didn't knew that.

Hi All
Thanks for the assistance and suggestions. I was able to recover an
image from my original CD by using another PC that had a CD drive
(not DVD drive). I have installed the VO27 from the image. It does
not seem to load, hangs on the splash screen. Then I kill it in task manager. And it loads to where you select the default project. Then
it hangs there. I am using win 10 PRO (64bit). Does that affect it
in any way? Do you suggest I patch it again (I had patched it to 27b before). If so where can I now find the patch files to do so?
Wolfgang, do you have the patch files in your site? Would a recopy
of the bin files from my backup solve the patching? Sorry to blast
all these questions at you but I have a project that has to be
maintained for another year. Just trying to get to a point where I
can open the repository. Regards Richard
