    I just noticed that IEEE Scheme has been withdrawn: <https://standards.ieee.org/standard/1178-1990.html>

    Does anyone know the story behind the withdrawal?

    If no one does the work to reaffirm an IEEE standard, it eventually expires and is automatically withdrawn.

    AFAICT, IEEE standards expire if nobody is there to actively maintain
    them, and I assume that's what happened with the IEEE Scheme standard.
