My decade old PC crashed hard to lose my SeaMonkey v2.49.5 web
browser's cookies. Now, YT is using its new layout instead of its old
web site design layout. How can I get it back?
Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)
YouTube plans to remove the previous design soon, so this method will
be obsolete.
You have to change the cookie PREF in the developer console and set its
value to f6 = 8.
After updating the website, you should return to the previous design.
How do I do that?
You can restore the old layout of YouTube (for now) by installing this
script:
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/34818-youtube-restore-classic
To be able to run this script, you need to have a user script manager.
Since you are using SeaMonkey, I recommend using Greasemonkey Port to run
the script:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/gmport/
This is the only active user script manager I could find for Greasemonkey. Slightly out-of-date installation instructions are available here:
https://github.com/OpenUserJS/OpenUserJS.org/wiki/Greasemonkey-Port-for- SeaMonkey
This method is easier than the one I briefly described earlier.
I recommend, if possible, upgrading your system.
Consider using https://invidio.us instead of YouTube because it is
easier in terms of performance. However, image quality will be reduced.
Will it still let me log into my YouTube account to rate, comment, etc.?
I don't see that option?
At the time of writing this item it was impossible to login to Google via invidio.us. However, it might be possible to do this in the future. You
can also create an account without Google on invidio.us.
