  • Grex offline?

    I know they're more than just a Gopher host, but I subscribe to this
    group... and they are one of the larger phlog sites.

    Anyway, does anyone know what's going on with Grex? I haven't been able to connect to them in over a week, and don't see anything on Twitter or other social media (perhaps unsurprisingly...) about them. It's not just the
    Gopher server that seems down; it's everything.

    They've always had a lot of downtime, but this is pretty extended, even
    for them. :/

    I was told by a grex staff[er], that this happens due to their ISP. Grex machine is usually up and running without problem.

    Looks like grex has been up for several days:

    grex > uptime
    1:13PM up 6 days, 21:09, 6 users, load averages: 0.06, 0.08, 0.07

    What's frustrating is there is little communication from the grex.org
    admins WRT status; would be easy enough to have a twitter status feed so account holders aren't left wondering.

    A Twitter account, some sort of off-site status page, a moderated Usenet newsgroup, Fidonet echomail... anything would be an improvement over the
    status quo, honestly.

    Thanks for the update; I'll keep twiddling my thumbs and waiting patiently
    for their return.
