I would like to have 2.8 as a backup in case I
have problems with 2.10.

if you choose to customize the 2.10 install it's not possible to give
it it's own directory. Would be a nice option for v2.10.01 :-)

use 2.8 as a portable app
Gimp v2.10 is the trouble maker!
So I installed the portable 2.10.0 version as test.
Same problems with the plugins.
Other plugins are crashing when I try to use them.
The toolbox is now a collection of points and no longer icons.
You can fit them now all in one old
Trying to start a plug-in for v2.10 failed because a lib named >libgegl-0.4-0.dll is missing. Good luck finding it on the internet;
I'm still searching ...
I think I have no problems with v2.10.0 out of the box, but I like my
v2.8.xx plugins too much to say goodby to them.
I will wait at least a month for a next test and hopefully most issues
are solved.

Thanks for the inforamtion. Very useful.
I do not have that many plugins, but even so, I too shall wait for
things to settle down before moving to 2.10. I can live without the
couple of new filters for a while ....
