Hello Ramzi,
You replied:
The switching matrices in SDH equipment are at VC-n level,
the higher order at VC-4 level and the lower order at VC-11, VC-12,
VC-2 level.
I think you forgot VC-3
In SDH equipment the VC-3 is lower order, in SONET equipment
VC-3 (or STS-1) is higher order.
Mapping TUG3 directly into AU4 would bypass the VC-4 switch matrix.
So theoretically we can do it! but for practical reasons we don't?
If your network consists of onlt STM-1 ADMs and links it will work.
But as sson as there are STM-N (N>1) in the network you need the VC-4.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, suppose we have 63xE1 tributary card
cross-connected to STM-1 line card, in this case the VC-4 is structred
onto 63 VC-12, so we only need to use the LO switch matrix.
Indeed, the VC-4 cross-connect consists of s single connection.
In the second case, suppose we have 2 STM-1 line cards cross-connected
directly, despite the fact that each VC-4 is structred onto 63 VC-12,
we only need to use the HO switch matrix.
Yes, some vendors call this a digital cross connect DXC.
Cheers, Huub.
