  • Transport network and multipoint-to-multipoint

    Bonjour Huub,

    In the excellent RFC 7087 thesaurus you have contributed as editor, this is written:

    "A Transport Network provides transmission of traffic between attached
    client devices by establishing and maintaining point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connections between such devices".

    This statement concerns MPLS-TP, the subject of the RFC.

    If we have an Ethernet transport network (as PBN or PBBN) is it possible to add multipoint-to-multipoint for that technology?

    A transport network (like PBB) is connection oriented (CO).
    The Ethernet application for CO networks is referred to as
    Carrier Class Ethernet.

    In a CO network mp-2-mp is not allowed because that is a
    requirement of IEEE 802.1ag connectivity fault management (CFM)

    Glurps ! I thought there was a difference between PBB which was CL and PBB-TE which was CO.

    Forgive me! you don't mix between these 2 transport networks.
