You can use 2MHz or 2Mbps for synchronization for sdh via Ext clock.
When you use 2Mbps, you can insert SSM.
But what is better? I dont't know too.
If you use the SSM in framed 2 Mbit/s E1 signal for sync you
know the quality of the reference clock.
This is better than using a 2 MHz clock as reference.
Best regards, Huub.
Yes framed 2 2Mbps framed signals from an external unit.
Just check if the external unit sends a framed signal, not AIS.
AIS will cause LOF detection.
did not try disconnecting the ref clock because it would cause an outage.
That should not happen normally, the system/network should select
another timing source or go into hold-over mode.
did not try disconnecting the one which is not chosen as reference. Will it have an impact.
No it will have no impact, even if the used timing source experiences
a problem, see above.
Is it even possible as per ITU standards to provide 2 2Mbps to a SDH device?
Yes, read ITU-T recommendation G.781.
Best regards, Huub.
