Hello Pritha,
You write:
Can somebody tell me the alarms propagation difference between wrapper/transport and switching services ?
Now I am confused. Can you explain what you mean by wrapper/transport
service and switching service (OTN is both wrapper and switching...).
As per my understanding for wrapper/transport service we will be seeing
the ODUk alarms like AIS, BDI only at the end nodes where client
is inserted and removed
Correct, because the ODUk is the container that transports the client signal
as its payload. It is the path layer in the OTN structure.
whereas for switching service we see the ODUk alarm at every node.
This is not correct, in OTN the ODUk are switched in intermediate nodes
when the path is set up. If end-to-end connection is established ODUk
alarms will be reported at both end nodes only.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
I just did.
Also i would be very thankful if someone can share some reference
document links for understanding fault management and propagation.
You can read ITU-T Recommendation G.784 describing OTN management.
(free to download)
Kind regards, Huub.
