  • difference between aAIS and aSSF

    HI,
    In G.783 in performing consequent actions, there is no difference between aAIS and aSSF! these are created by similar defects.
    my question is, what is the difference between two actions?

    Correct. They indicate that the server layer is defect.

    my question is, what is the difference between two actions?

    The termination point in the server layer can replace the
    failed signal by an AIS signal, this will be detected by the
    client layer adaptation function as dAIS and consequently
    takes the aAIS action.

    The termination point in the server layer can detect the
    failure of the incoming signal and can send an SSF signal
    to the client layer adaptation funtion which consequently
    takes the aSSF action.

    I am appreciated your answer,
    I notice that aSSF by getting OR with other defects in other layers generate other actions, but aAIS is just generated and don't have any effect on the others operations. what difference have these consequent actions practically?
    In my idea, They must have had another difference because for example in G.806 the picture contained aAIS, aRDI, aREI, CI_SSF, dashed-line presented aAIS doesn't exit from trail termination and adaptation!!!!

    The termination function that detects AIS will signal it to
    its adaptaion function as aTSF. This adaptation function will
    signal it to the higher layer termination function as aSSF, this
    termination funvcion will signal it to its adaptation funtion as
    aTSf, etc. etc.
    This works faster than the case where every funtion has to detect
    AIS by itself.
