The deadly and drug-resistant fungus Candida auris is under
close surveillance as health experts work to calm its spread.
Candida auris, also called C. auris, was first identified in
the U.S. less than 10 years ago. Since then, the number of
cases have increased every year.
In 2025, new cases of Candida auris are about on track with
the same time last year, according to data reported to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, some
states are seeing far more cases than others.
. . .
There is no real 'risk behavior' involved here - the
fungus and its spores are EVERYWHERE.
As noted, there are NO good treatments. NO vax.
Get it and you're in DEEP shit.
Haven't even heard of any mRNA approaches - and
that's the most modern fix for weird diseases.
Fungi are HARDY and spew spores all over the
place. They are not exactly plants, not exactly
bacteria or animals. They can survive/grow under
very adverse conditions.
Medically - HUGE problem.
Trump is about to cut, indirectly, money for more
research by pharmas. His immediate intentions are
good - lower costs for US citizens. However there
is also some FALLOUT. So, IMHO, some kind of special
federal funding for 'dangerous emerging diseases'
research HAS to be provided. It's an issue for ALL,
so federal money IS justified. Wouldn't hurt to
put military researchers on the same job. This
shit COULD be made into a bio-war weapon even
without serious genetic mods.
Oh, and OTHER 'resistant' germs - ALREADY a big prob
and solutions are coming TOO slow. 'Nature' will
always try to get ahead of the proverbial curve.
It's a constant war.
