Plug the PC in to power first. If that does not work, wait 5 to 10
minutes in case the battery needs to charge to a certain level.

Then the page goes on in greater detail about various steps including
power drain and reset functions.

That's right, no power light around the Power button like my other Thinkpad.

My TPs power light is the tiny 'i' dot in the ThinkPad badge to the R of
the touchpad.

If you like words, the dots on i or j are tittles a form of diacritic
which is a dot. The wp article on the tittle goes into Biblical detail involving 'jot and tittle'.

The troubleshooting article at Lenovo implied that some ThinkPads don't
have power lights.

If the computer has a power indicator light, check if the light comes on.

I was able to Power ON the ThinkPad after charging (connecting power
adapter) for half a day or so. And, swapping drives to boot another OS requires charging for hours again.
