Rep. Ilhan Omar has secured victory in the Democrat primary for
Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District. The Associated Press declared
her the winner, with Omar gaining an increase of 9,841 votes compared to
the previous election.



However, the election returns raised some eyebrows due to the rate and
speed at which the votes were counted. After polls closed at 8:00 PM, it
took nearly an hour and a half to reach just 5% counted, and then jumped
to 99.5% within 15 minutes, sparking debate and suspicion.

8:00 pm – Polls close.
8:15 pm – 0% counted.
8:30 pm – 0% counted.
8:45 pm – 0% counted.
9:00 pm – 0% counted.
9:22 pm – 5.0% counted.
9:37 pm – 99.5% counted.

There was something unusual about the reporting and tallying of the vote
totals in the Minnesota US House District 5 Democratic Primary election.

The Decision Desk only presented two batches of votes;

Batch 1: 5% of the vote just after 10 PM ET
Batch 2: The remaining 94% around 10:40 – 10:50 PM ET

The race was immediately called after the release of the second batch of
votes.
