I ordered some tickets and received an email on my PC showing a barcode
and all the purchase details.
I received the same email on my quite old Android phone, which looks essentially the same, except that the area where the barcode should be
has a tiny square icon with some green colour followed by some text
which begins: "MAR25:0d0afa63 …" {my quotes]
Clearly I would like to show my phone at the venue rather than print a
piece of paper.
All other emails containing images display correctly on my phone, so
this must be a problem relating to the barcode.
Any ideas?
If it helps the supplier is the Edinburgh Fringe, and while very helpful
they haven't been able to resolve this.

Save the emails as pdfs and transfer to your phone?

What application are you using to display the email in the phone? I'd
guess it is the Google Mail one. You could try to install K9 and load
the email there.

It's probably my age, but I would sooner print a piece of paper rather
than show my phone at the venue. I prefer to leave my phone at home when going out if I'm not going to need it. Then I don't have to worry about
it being lost or stolen.

Definitely age-related! Most (FSVO most) people have their 'phone
surgically attached to them, whether out or in, and develop severe
anxiety if separated from it for more than a few minutes. The concept of
"not going to need it" is completely incomprehensible to them!
(From someone who has not _owned_ a smartphone for about three years.)

Some people wear a watch instead. The concept of "not going to need
it" is completely incomprehensible to them!
Don't those need the 'phone to be nearby (in a pocket, bag, or similar)
- or do some of them take SIMs directly these days? I'm very out of touch.>
From someone who stopped wearing a watch for at least a decade. My blue plastic Casio has been a faithful friend for a _long_ time - to
the extent that I've spent far more on maintaining the metal expanding
strap I use with it than it cost in the first place! (From Argos, IIRR.)>>

A watch can work on a winding mechanism ? no electronics at all :-)
People have been wearing them maybe for a century. Some of them are more expensive than a car. Some people have several.

So you just watch the clock on the wall or that one on the microwave
oven, right?

I have a clock on the wall. It's not in this room,
and it doesn't have a battery in it. The time is correct
twice a day :-) That's the clock I use to set the
time on the microwave.
The computer has accurate time. There, I just synced it.
