Sound stopped working on laptop. Nothing coming out of the USB speakers.
Took 30 minutes to find the problem. I had plugged phone into laptop to
charge it, and plugged earbuds into desktop to charge them. Earbuds
must have paired with the phone, because in the Volume Mixer window, it
gave the code letters for the earbuds (instead of Logitech Z205!)
So even though the earbuds supposedly don't work when they are charging,
they had paired with the phone, which was only meant to charge.
Or did the earbuds pair with the laptop? Yes, I think that's it. I
don't think I ever told it to.
Plugging earbuds to recharge into a desktop is not a pair event.
Right. The earbuds were plugged into the desktop but they paired with
the laptop, and played the audio I was playing on the laptop (to the
exclusion of the laptop's usb speakers).
I know some earbud instructions say they won't pair when charging, but
does that apply to all of them? Or maybe it paired before I started
charging. At any rate, it was pretty confusing when the sound wouldn't
come out of the speakers for a while. Especially since it started with
a google-created thinly-outllned box at the top of a google search page
"how to pronounce xiaomi" that had no sound coming out of it. I had not
seen that box before and thought it was the problem .
