I'm sure the problem is Sling.com but it's interesting so I'll tell you
about it. I wanted CNN between now and he election so I signed up for
Sling.com It worked fine during the first 28 hours, but since 6PM
today, there is usually no sound on CNN and another channel.
Except, when you start it up, t here is sound for 5 seconds. Then if
you click Pause and Play, there is sound for 2 or 3 seconds, usually.
And if you close the channel and restart it, again 2 or 3 seconds and
then silence.
Sometimes advertisement4s have sound, but not always.
Meanwhile, the Sling app on android works fine, the webpage on the
Chrome browser on Android works fine, and the CNN channel on Tunein
works fine.
Hmmm. That sounds like it's my windows but it worked fine for 24
hours, and it works for 2 or 3 seconds. often. And everything else on
that computer that makes sound works fine!!!!
I don't know if it's more than 2 channels. I would think lots of people
have complained and I did aobut 2 hours ago. I hope they fix it in time
for the Dem. Convention, but if not, it included the phone app.
Have you had Task Manager open ?
Yes, I did. Still had lots of resources.
I would be curious (with a duration like 24 hours), whether
this Sling thing had used up RAM and not released it.
It's pretty much like Youtube, although its screen dispplays 20 or 30
things you can watch. I haven't had time to watch The People's Court
for a a couple years and was pleased to find it there, but it turned out
to be from 2015.
It's nice that one only has to provide an email address, chooose a
password, and pay. No need for more software if you have Chrome
already. On the PC. On Adroid I can now use the CNN and MSNBC app,
and the Sling app.
I don't know anything about other streaming services.except that this
one is 40/month and the others are about 79. I don't like spending
extra money when I already have more over the air tv than I can watch,
and I'm hoping I can get rid of this after the inauguration.
Perhaps a reboot will give you another 24 hours of usage.
I'll try that. .... Well, no need. This morning it seems to be working without rebooting, just restarting that particular channel, which I had
done 3 or more times before.
So it seems like they fixed it, but it also seems like a wierd problem,
because it worked on the other platforms (whkch I would think use the
same signal) and it worked here several times each for 3 seconds and
stopped.
BTW, Sling tells you that Firefox won't work and indeed it gave an error message. They recommend Chrome which I have been using.
