Hiya all! My name is Mathpunk. This is my first time on a BBS - I was too young to experience them in their heyday. I've been exploring the small/slow internet for a couple years now, and I found Magnum via a thread on the tildeverse BBJ. All of this is very new to me, but I've been having a lot of fun exploring! Hello from Canada!

Hi and welcome to Magnum BBS :)

I've only been to Canada once - to Toronto. I must get around to exploring more of Canada in the future.

Re the BBS, feel free to explore - the mail areas, chat and door games are quite popular :)

    Hi, Mathpunk.

This is my first time on a BBS

Welcome - hopefully you found it interesting and you'll connect back :)

    I've been exploring the small/slow
internet for a couple years now

Oh, right - what are your favourite small / slow internet destinations? I often rack my brain trying to think what new and interesting things could be brought to text mode or at least low graphics media. I wonder if anyone has a Meshtastic feed on their BBS?

Anyway, aside from the conversations going on in the echoes / message bases, I like word games so I hit Wordle and Bubble Boggle basically every day. There's also the multi-relay chat facility here which, although quiet a lot of the week, gets really busy on Saturday evenings UK time, I guess middle of the afternoon for you?

Hope to hear from you soon.

    I've enjoyed exploring so far!

I've been spending the majority of my internet time on pubnixes like tilde.team and SDF. I really like the community there. I haven't explored gemini or gopher as much as I'd like to, but I've been on the lookout for creative writing like Ferenbrooke (gemini://ferenbrooke.com) or Cosmic Voyage (gemini://cosmic.voyage). I want to post my own writing someday, and I even put a couple poems up in 2023, but I haven't had as much time to write as I'd like.

Yeah, I'm about 6 hours behind y'all. I was going to look at more of the games, but I've been enthralled by synchronet minesweeper, which is funny, because I was never particularly interested in minesweeper before.

    Hi, Mathpunk.

I've been enthralled by synchronet minesweeper, which is funny,
because I was never particularly interested in minesweeper before.

I have mixed feelings about that door game. I do enjoy playing it but usually when I dig up a mine it's because I've mixed up the "d" and "f" keys, what with being right next to each other and controlled by the left hand. So that gets a bit frustrating sometimes! I wish they'd picked space to dig, then I wouldn't second guess myself all the time.

The sysop of BeeBS was telling me about tilde, I have never tried it myself. I guess I'm missing out on some good stuff.
