Hey all, been a hot bit since I checked in on you guys. Good to see
there's still familiar faces around.

The tqw network is still up and running. I see the domain has gone so whether that means hubs are not talking to each other, I dunno. I
dropped Bill a message via QWK so we'll see if he answers, I guess.

That's too bad. Araknet had one hub go down and each of the other hubs
sort of limped along for a while. I'd almost prefer a less resilient
network, that, when it went down, you knew it. :(

I'm sort of feeling like that too. Though the problem with having a
master hub that everything is routed through is you end up with a fractured network of little clusters. It's like the Sixth Sense. They
are dead but they don't know they're dead :) --- SBBSecho 3.38-Linux
Some of the people in Fido zone 2 are preaching the FidoWeb, basically having multiple feeds and letting message dupe detection sort things
out. That might work well for an othernet.
I have 3 feeds for Fidonet and let dupe detection work its magic so that's not really a new concept. Been like that for years.--- Nigel Reed Done ---

Where are you looking? Wouldn't Poindexter/Kurt be your NC or RC (California)? I'm not sure which hat he wears, but he would be a great start for you to get a node number in the proper area. Otherwise, who you get your mail from doesn't matter.. so I imagine you're not looking very hard. ;)--- Accession Done ---

But it's sloppy and not necessary.

Not really. Not every hub/system carries every group.
Sometimes posts
get dropped. I was having this problem with a couple of echos so I
added a 2nd feed. I'm then also feeding someone else and they feed me
also so that's three.
Sorry, you'll have to deal with it.

Failing that, contact Kurt_Weiske RC for Region 10 at
realitycheckbbs.org and I'm sure he'll point you in the right
direction.

Sure, getting echos that your main hub doesn't carry from
somebody else is great. I do that myself. But getting the
SAME echos from multiple places is ... sloppy/lazy/unnecessary.
Yeah, email through my BBS is probably getting marked as SPAM, need to
work on DKIM, DMARC and all of that fun stuff.

IMHO, what makes it sloppy/lazy but necessary is that the "sloppy/lazy"
is probably not happening on your system but somewhere else in the
chain -- an autopilot system for example. It might be lazier, or more unnecessary, than changing a feed every time you realize that (an)
active echo(es) have suddenly stopped flowing but it works so long as
you are using a modern tosser.
OTOH, there are networks that do not permit this practice and you need
to respect that. But for FIDO, where in recent past we've had RCs just
up and disappear, it it almost necessary if you are a local hub.
All good points and thanks for that input.
Autopilot sysops are the scourge of the hobby, IMHO.
Yeah, emailed him a few times but haven't heard back. :P
Your pipe code from the end of this is screwing with the message body color, can you fix this?--- Exodus Done ---

I send mail to hubs 1,2 & 5 directly, and receive mail from those hubs directly. (Not hub 4, since it lives next to hub 1).
It has its benefits, when 1 hub down it only take out that part of the network. However, when it's down unexpectantly it might not be so
obvious immediately that its down...

That's essentially what's happening here in that all HUBs should get a copy of everything and send to all other HUBs..
