    I don't really want to trauma dump on here, but I am thinking of doing a poetry book instead of writing a memoir or a fiction
    story based on some of my life events.

    Matthew, it sounds like you haven't decided yet. You might find that you'd enjoy doing a combination. For example, intersperse a book that's primarily prose with poetry. Or vice versa.

    Someone once suggested to me I could add short musical compositions within my stories. The compositions would be the "incidental" music. :) You know, like that cool music that plays during actions scenes of Star Trek... lol

    one of my favourite books, Microserfs, has computer-formatted diary pages punctuating the narrative story every now and then. i think the format
    works really well!
