Andrew,
You actually have me an idea for a Door Game the other day when you
had an issue with players not being able to leave the Inn...
I am thinking of something along the lines based on the song "Hotel California"... Of course I would call it something like "Hotel Kalifornia".. :)
Trying to decide on how to lay it out, and what final "Goals" a player needs to do... like Escape the place... Trying to figure out how
Extensive I want to make it (How many "Rooms"), as well as I want to incorporate my "Talk" system like I have with my Star Trek Enhanced
game, along with the Combat and Inventory system...
Maybe make something like BTW, but instead of Regions, it would be Floors... Maybe. Haven't decided yet. Time to break out the 50 pages
of blank paper and lay it out...
:)
Coming up with a new game is always hard. I've got lots of games that are in various stages of development. I have card games, and arcade games and RPGs and simulations and others. Each one is stalled at some stage because I
can't figure out how to balance some aspect. For instance, I have a Tower Defense game that has towers of various power, and 'invaders', of also
various power. But I've found that I can't balance them. The first level
tower will kill about 70% of the invaders, but the next level tower will kill just about all invaders. I have some fast but easily killed invaders and
slow but hard to kill invaders, but even the 2nd level tower (of 4 levels of towers) will kill those invaders.
Then I have some games that are just buggy and I can't seem to fix them. I have a card game, 'Beleaguard Castle', which mostly works, but its got some problems where cards disappear off the stack and I can't figure out why.
Last week I started a new game called Galactic Warfare, which is just a new rendition of a doorgame that I played one time. It's just a simulation game where players try to occupy all of the finite number of planets. There are
60 planets, and you must portion your population to increase tech, or
increase resources. The increased tech will allow you to build more complex ships, and the resources are used to create large fleets. You send fleets to the different planets to do battle and hopefully conquer and occupy the
planet.
It seems to me that it's more fun to write the game than it is to finish it
or play it.
I have the following games that are in various stages of development:
Minesweeper - the classic game
bejewelled - the classic game
R-Type - space arcade game
Pacman - the classic game
Kroz - the classic PC game
Tower Defense
DopeWars
Doctor Who RogueLike
Galactic Tycoon
Then I have some doorgame recreations:
Space Dynasty Elete (SDE) - patterened after Hollie Satterfelds Space Dynasty Virtual Sysop ]I[ - from the TBBS game Virtual Sysop
Dragon's Hoard - from the WWIV doorgame
LORD - an MPL recreation
Planets TEOS - An MPL recreation
SinBAUD - an MPL recreation
I always figure I'd finish these games, but I never seem to get around to it.
