  • New archive for file area TK4 and new file/echo areas

    Hello All!

    Over the last and next few months more file areas are being added to the Filegate (see latest copy of FILEGATE.ZXX and a new one will be issued at the end of the month).

    Like wise new echo areas are appearing on the backbone and available from 2:250/1, so don't forget to do a %QUERY against areafix and even filemgr for updates every month or so but you should all be getting such a list via the notify messages sent at the beginning of each month.


    I have hatched a new small archive file for this area.
    It includes details of a large update (276 MB) so includes
    the website to obtain it.

    TK4 is a fairly new file area added to FILEGATE (.ZXX) that offers
    a IBM Mainframe system based on MVS 3.8J on your PC running *nix, Windows etc.

    If you want to learn about IBM mainframes here is the chance but be warned
    the operating system is not like any thing you have done with a PC, period.

    A lot of learning is involved but the experience will help if you wish to be involved in programming or support with modern systems used in large companies as the tools used are basically the same in the modern system like zOS, just
    a lot more functionality.
