  • Perhipheral and cables packaging

    Has anybody come up with a good way of bundling a Pi and its
    associated cables/peripherals/hub into a reasonably neat handful?

    I'd like to set up a Pi, an Owon vds 1022i DSO, a USB HDD and
    their hub and cables into a package that can be attached to a
    monitor for convenience in handling. It's just for casual use,
    with a keyboard/touchpad combo or maybe just a mouse. The monitor
    is by far the largest part, so laptop-like neatness isn't paramount.


    Some sort of basket about 3" by 6" by 6" with the opening on
    a 3 by 6 side that can be attached to the monitor seems about
    right, but I've not found anything readily available. A plastic
    food container seems too airtight but might work if the shape
    is reasonable. Easy air circulation seems desirable, though.

    I've rummaged around on Amazon for containers and organizers,
    but nothing that looks useful comes to hand.

    Any ideas ?

    Some Pi-ignorant reader may not realize it, but (at the risk of boring/ insulting everybody else) the only reason this is a problem is that the Pi
    is so petite, it weighs less than the cables you connect to it. ;)

    And the cables take up considerably more space! It's a bit like
    trying to package a nest of serpents 8-)

    I have actually had to use some strategically placed masking tape in order to prevent my pi machines from being pulled off the back of the desk by the weight --- SBBSecho 3.28-Linux

    They can hang on or be lashed to the monitor, holding the Pi, power supply,
    hub and digital 'scope. It's a bird's nest, but pick-uppable.

    Sorta, but not on purpose. They're powder coated black.
    They pass an ohmmeter test with mini clips.

    However, it wouldn't be difficult to dip them in the
    sort of liquid vinyl used to coat tool handles.
