I find it difficult to place much weight in this sort of commentary.
This is cultural difference and nothing more. The way we slaughter o
animals for food is exactly the same, regardless of whether they've raised as pets first. (Rabbits, ducks, pigs...) Ever filleted a fish
Boiled a live lobster?
This is the primary purpose, why I am Vegan.
I had the same mentality some years ago. A thought made me sick to my stomach one day while eating a popular brand of chicken, and I couldn't eat flesh for long, long time. It's become a constant roller coaster of an emotional and intellectial battle, dealing with that primal survival need.
I worked in a slaughter house/processing plant for a couple of years. I
have no issues eating meat. There are a couple of types of processed meat
I would not eat after smelling what they smell like being cooked/processed,
but they are types I would likey not have eaten anyway.
However, I respect others and their dietary choices.
I invite you both to check out the FIDO COOKING echo. If you mention you
are vegan, I am sure there will be plenty of recipes offered up. ;)
