    While I actually like the technology and I think its pretty awesome what
    was achieved back in the day - I'd like to see it progress taking
    advantage of today's available technologies (while keeping the legacy

    where pages were owned by service providers. I'm enabling BBSes to own a
    page prefix, so if you connect to any videotex enabled BBS, you could see
    all pages from that single location. I'm dont know if others will want to
    use what I'm creating, but I'm having fun reliving it and creating it.)

    Hey, thanks for posting - you beat me to it.

    Its at a point that somebody can join and be part of the InterBBS part of this - but its a little manual, so happy to help out by hand until I get it more automated. Theres a heap more features that can (need) to be added...

    What does InterBBS mean? Well, if you run Synchronet too, you can install my shell and as frames are "published", they'll be sent to your board as well. Since Videotex (and thus Ansitex) is "page" (or "frame") based, as frames as submitted, they'll be sent to your BBS and available for viewing, and I'm doing this via a FTN/Echomail area on a custom zone.

    I'll happily accept help and ideas :)

    You know I had a website where the ORIGINAL videotex was being "brought back."
    They had old videotapes with the original signals on them and were sampling..and re-sampling the signals to try to extract the original signal. With some success.

    I'm from the era where I loved the idea of videotex but never had a chance to play with it...I'd love to see both the original and something approximating it return. The old NAPALPS standard is an interesting study...very low bandwidth but vector based, quite similar to SVG.

    ...I've since lost that website where they were trying to exract the original videotex signals.

    I would love (and plan to) support the original frames. Well infact the US implemetnation was a bit different to that used in AU and the UK (and france too I think) - but nonetheless, I think the functionality was similiar.

    You can see my original retro implementation on my website - http://alterant.leenooks.net - and look for OzTex. You can connect, and register/login, but there isnt much there in terms of frames. (If you press Connect and it disconnects, try a 2nd or 3rd time - I havent tracked down why this occurs yet). Going forward, I hope to load these frames into SBBS that would make a more stable system.

    I have no original videotex frames - but if there are around, I would love to know.
