Aren't most domains renewed automatically (if you pay your bills)? And I already get reminders from my registrar.

So if a domain in the nodelist has expired, that's probably intentional or a symptom of something else.

Maybe a netmail to the host of nodes with expired domains is more useful. So they can investigate the matter, and update the entry if needed. And a report netmail to the RC if the problem persists, and a report to the ZC if the probleme persists for longer.

Some of my domains are renewed automatically and some are not. But... I always get reminders from my registrars. So a netmail from another Fidonet sysops has little or no added value and could indeed be considered spam.

I wouldn't do it, a domain coming up for renewal will be flagged by the domain's registrar, I don't see the value of such a (net)mail.

FidoNet has no spam, so important notifications are probably easier to notice

fidonet.net was lost, if I remember correctly.

It was indeed, that part of your memory is correct.

What you missed is that having the domain expire was an intentional act of the keeper to rock the boat. So a netmail warning would not have had the intended effect.

That point of "to send warning" - in general, sounds like spam. I would expect, I should agree first to get netmailed (enable that service) than by default to start getting it. Also - for example - in .cz expired domain is 30 days still covered (everything is still working) which could be business model here.

In detail I think - for consideration: who is reponsible for "not valid" entry in segment? Shall we start include that step/check in makenl process?
