American Airlines diverts to Dublin due to to sick cabin crew

Six cabin crew members on an American Airlines flight from Rome Fiumicino to Philadelphia became unwell during the flight. The pilots subsequently decided to return to Dublin.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with registration N840AN, departed from the Italian airport on Saturday afternoon around 1:00 PM. Approximately three hours after departure, six of the nine cabin crew members experienced health issues. They felt dizzy and became unwell.
In a statement to Simple Flying, American Airlines stated that there was an �odor on board.� The airline has not disclosed the cause of the odor. Possible causes of unusual odors in the cabin include problems with electrical systems, defective equipment, or air conditioning malfunctions.
The pilots decided to turn around over the Atlantic Ocean and set course for Dublin. After landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services. The six cabin crew members and one passenger were checked by ambulance personnel.
The passengers were offered an overnight hotel stay and were rebooked onto flights the following day. At the time of writing, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is still grounded in Dublin.
