Yes, Mageia software is pretty solid, Mageia users seem to be getting
smarter at not mucking around with the system, so it has been quiet.
So I'll do a little update\.
I have a Billion modem router
BiPAC 7800NXL
and a printer scanner
Brother MFC-9340CDW
I thought I would connect the printer to the router and reduce the cable
load on the computer.
Yep, I have my Brother HL-L2380DW usb connected for scanning, and
Ethernet connected to my t0 port switch for networking printing.
the next trick was to discover that the printer can be configured for
wired LAN - of course it can! TCP/IP DHCP all auto.
My router does dhcp, but I assign static ipv4 addresses to all devices
where possible. I leave the first 10 ip addresses free for guests and
whatnot.
I thought the printer will be assigned an address, DHCP from the router.
Didn't work either. I can only guess you punched in a bad address at
the printer, or router blocked the assignment.
My next trick will be to get a real Ethernet cable dump USB and try again.
Ok, that makes more sense, about your dhcp problem.
And if Bits is lurking I can now dual boot MGA6 and MGA7.
Good. That will allow you to boot mga6, and have a script to backup mga7.
But I have yet to rsync a backup of MGA7 to the spare partition
Do remember, you have setup your system as EFI and not legacy OS boot.
That means, you should also backup your efi partition.
